NEXT MEETING - January 31, 2026 - TPL-Main Library 151 Library Dr. Houma, LA - Guest Speaker - Ernie Savoie will be our guest speaker this month. He is the Director for the center for traditional Louisiana boat building. Ernie is a third-generation carpenter with strong ties to Cajun culture. He was born in Bayou Lafourche and speaks Cajun French. Ernie specializes in building cypress pirogues, paddle carving, and miniature boat building. He demonstrates his traditional boat-building and paddle making skills at many festivals, including the Larose Cajun Heritage Festival, the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, La Fete du Monde, The Bayou Arts Festival and many more. He has won many awards for his boat-building skills. He lives in Larose with his wife, Catherine.
